Consistent with the dual goals
of the school, all students at Block Yeshiva are enrolled in full
curricula of both Judaic and General Studies. As a result, their
school day is nearly nine hours in length.
The Judaic Studies
curriculum is skill-based, and primarily utilizes texts in the original
Hebrew and Aramaic. Each student is enrolled in six courses
taught on one of four levels each semester. These courses include:
Gemara or Mishna (Talmudic
Text and Commentaries)
Chumash (Biblical Text and Exegesis)
Navi (Prophetic Literature)
Ktuvim (Jewish Thought)
Halacha (Applied Jewish Law)
Ivrit (Hebrew Language)
Jewish History, including Zionism/Holocaust Studies
A minimum of nineteen additional
credits is required in the General Studies curriculum. The
